The organization is looking for a dynamic Systems Engineering Leader to manage Systems Safety Engineering in support the National Security Space (NSS) Programs at our Sunnyvale, CA location. Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of NSS system safety engineers
- Directly support one or more NSS programs
- Manage the System Safety Engineering Processes that span the Product Lifecycle.
- Manages the various System Safety Engineering analysis and recommendations of safety criteria in system design, equipment, facilities and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
- Support the maintenance of Space Command Media.
- Direct and conduct program audits to determine Space Command Media compliance and health across the Enterprise.
- Support LM Space new business capture including proposal coordination and execution.
- Lead culture change initiatives within the Systems Engineering organization while also directly supporting multiple missile/satellite programs.
- Perform horizontal integration within the Systems Engineering organization to identify opportunities and value-added modifications to become more competitive.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering or related discipline
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience leading and mentoring diverse teams of engineers.
- Experience using MIL-STD-882E and AFSPCMAN/SSCMAN 91-710, or other relevant industry and/or range safety standards
- Must have Systems Engineering/System Safety Engineering experience including requirements derivation, decomposition, and/or verification
- Experience evaluating contractual requirements and their execution throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Top secret clearance, therefore, US Citizenship required
- Existing Clearance - TS-SCI preferred
- Experience supporting Satellite, Payload, and/or Ground Support Equipment Development for US Government/NASA programs.
- Experience defining safety requirements, influencing design to integrate safety requirements, and verifying safety requirements.
- Experience mentoring others in the System Safety Engineering Discipline
- Software system safety experience
- Experience participating in System Safety Working Groups
- Experience tailoring and verifying Range Safety Requirements in support of Satellite launch
- Experience developing MSPSP documentation in support of launch
- Experience developing and managing a hazard racking system
- Familiarity with MBSE
- Familiarity with DOORs
- Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and interact in group meeting/working environments with team members, development organizations and customers.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Outlook)
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
